If you have read here previously, you will know I’m rather fond of Chatsford teapots. They are my go to teapot for every day tea, and for special occasions as well. Out of curiosity, I did a web search this morning for Chatsford teapots (shop-chatsford-teapot). I was somewhat amazed that Etsy came up at the top of the results with a link to a category of “Chatsford Teapots”. It made me curious enough to take a look!
I found 25 pages of 60 to a page teapots: 1500 teapots! Sadly after scrolling through most of these pages, I only identified ONE teapot that was actually a “Chatsford Teapot”. It was incomplete (no infuser), and a licensed use of the Chatsford infuser, not actually made by The London Teapot Company who originated the Chatsford design.
I suppose I should not be that surprised. Marketplace websites are not known for carefully curating their responses to search engines, are they? But, in my opinion, this is the worst of many “bait and switch” responses I have encountered, returning 1500 listings with only one actually meeting the search request. Disappointing, to say the least.
